WORLD'S TOP 10 MOST EXPENSIVE COUNTRIES TO VISIT

We all love travel, but, depending on where you’re off to, it can be as expensive a habit as, say, class-A drugs. And while cash is only one factor we consider when it comes to exploring the world, it can be a pretty important one.
Luckily, the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report figures out the priciest places to go each and every year. And this year, Australia is the most expensive place on the list.
The report looks at spending on the ground — it doesn’t take into account getting to and from. It considers ticket taxes, airport charges, hotel price index, purchasing power parity and fuel prices — and based on all that, Australia ranks number one for spending. Lucky you already live here. Or not …

The list:
 1. Australia. Average spending: $US4,897
 2. Israel. Average spending: $US1,912
3. Switzerland. Average spending: $US1,882
4. United Kingdom. Average spending: $US1,316
5. Norway. Average spending: $US1,199
6. Sweden. Average spending: $US987
7. Italy. Average spending: $US920
8. Denmark. Average spending: $US811
9. Austria. Average spending: $US810
10. France. Average spending: $US669
