COUPLE CONVICTED FOR MASTERMINDING  LONDON TERRORIST ATTACK

A husband and wife have been convicted of masterminding a terror attack on the 10th anniversary of the London suicide bombings earlier this year.

Mohammed Rehman, 25, used the Twitter name “Silent Bomber” and asked users whether he should bomb a shopping centre or the London Underground train network.
Rehman used as his profile picture an image of the Islamic State group militant known as “Jihadi John”, believed killed earlier this year, and was said by prosecutors to have had a “keen interest” in IS.
He was arrested in May after posting a tweet saying: “Westfield shopping centre or London underground? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.”
That was accompanied by a link to an Al-Qaeda press release about the July 2005 bombings in which four suicide bombers targeted London’s transport system. Fifty-two people were killed.
The couple were accused of planning their attack around May 28.
Rehman was convicted alongside his wife Sana Ahmed Khan at London’s Old Bailey criminal court.
Police also seized more than 10 kilogrammes (22 pounds) of urea nitrate, which can be used to manufacture a large bomb, from their house and he filmed himself testing explosives in their back garden.
“Given his prior knowledge, experience and the ready availability of the chemicals, the manufacture of a detonator would have taken no more than a couple of days and could have been done by him much quicker if he chose to,” prosecutor Tony Badenoch told the court.

HOODLUMS DISRUPT X-MAS ACTIVITIES AT LAGOS
NATIONAL THEATRE

Hoodlums on Friday distorted the peace of fun seekers at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Many people who had come to the premises to spend the Christmas day lost their valuables during the incident which occurred between 4.30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The venue suddenly became chaotic as members of the public, who had come for relaxation and sightseeing took to their heels following the activities of the suspected hoodlums.
But the Police at the National Theatre Post eventually apprehended some of the suspected hoodlums.
Mr Philip Patrick, a 19-year-old student, told NAN that he just saw people running all over the premises of the theatre.
“I came here with my siblings to spend the Christmas day.
“We were having a picnic sort of, and all of a sudden, we saw people running in different directions; we also saw a `danfo’ bus move speedily around the complex.
“No one could really explain exactly what was happening but we had to run for safety first.’’
Patrick said that there were many pickpockets around.
“There are also a lot of pickpockets around harassing fun seekers.
“One of them took my camera but returned it immediately when I saw his hand coming out from my pocket.
“I also saw the same man take items from other people,’’ Patrick said.
Mrs Anabel Gbenro, a teacher, said that the incident was terrifying.
“I have come here with my family to give them a tour of a historic place in our country.
“The next thing we saw was people running to different directions.
“It is annoying that hoodlums are roaming everywhere here taking items from innocent people who are trying to relax their nerves.
“The security should be tighter; the police should increase their surveillance,’’ Gbenro said.
Miss Precious Ukawuike, another fun seeker, said that more should be done to restore the glory of the theatre.
“We cannot even go inside the theater; on a day like this, we cannot go inside to see how it is.
“It is sad that a lot of our young generation, especially those living outside Lagos do not know what the National Theatre is.
“I also think that people with demeanor which are visibly questionable
should be further scrutinised by security agents to prevent them from harassing harmless citizens,’’ Ukawuike said.

12 MALAYSIAN TOURISTS DIE IN BUS CRASH

Twelve Malaysian tourists were killed on Sunday in a bus crash in Thailand, according to information from police and a tour operator. Investigators said the accident happened soon after midday in Doi Saket district 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the northern city of Chiang Mai.
“There are now 13 dead, eight females, five males,” an officer at Doi Saket police station told AFP, asking not to be named. He added that the victims were both “Chinese Malaysian and Thai” but could not give a breakdown as investigations were continuing.
In Malaysia, tour operator Chiu Travel said it had been informed by Thai authorities that 12 Malaysians and a Thai tour guide were killed. “This is a real shock. We are all very sad,” manager Terence Yung told AFP by phone from the company’s office in the southern state of Johor.
“We have also lost our tour leader. Some of the relatives are here. They are calm and sad. Some are crying. We are doing everything to help them.” Malaysia’s foreign ministry put the number of Malaysian dead at 13. There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy.
The ministry in a statement expressed “deepest condolences” to the family and friends of those killed.  Multiple images posted online by local news outlets showed a horrific scene as rescuers battled to reach those trapped inside the smashed bus, which had come to rest in thick foliage with its roof caved in.
Some of those still inside had suffered horrific injuries. In one picture seven pieces of white sheeting had been draped to cover either bodies or body parts. Deadly road accidents are common in Thailand. In a 2015 study on global road safety the World Health Organization found Thailand had the world’s second most dangerous roads with 36.2 fatalities per 100,000 people.
The WHO said the number of official reported road deaths a year in Thailand for 2012, the latest year figures are available for, was 14,059.  But they added that their modelling suggested the true figure is actually closer to 24,000 dead a year. Tourism is a mainstay of Thailand’s otherwise fragile economy, accounting for around 10 percent of GDP, and the December to February period is peak season.

      OBAFEMI MARTINS BECOMES AMERICAN CITIZEN

Obafemi Martins will no longer count as a foreigner for Seattle Sounders as he has been listed as an American following the issuance of a Green Card to the ex-Inter Milan forward.

Nigeria allows for dual citizenship and this is also good news for Seattle Sounders, who could now sign another foreign player in place of Martins.
Obafemi Martins obtained the Green Card at some point this year and this was confirmed when the Major League Soccer (MLS) released the roster update for all the 20 MLS teams and listed Martins as a home player.
Sounders may benefit more in cases like that of ‘Oba’ as Jamaicans, Oniel Fisher and Damion Lowe, who have spent several years as students and professionals in the US could obtain Green Cards soon.
MLS clubs are allowed to have eight foreign nationals.

    WITCHES SUPPORT BUHARI'S  ANTI-CORRUPTION WAR
Witches have declared support for the anti-corruption campaign by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Declaring the support in Lagos, spokesperson for White Witches Association of Nigeria, WHIWTAN, Dr Okhue Iboi, said decision to back Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade was taken at the end of an emergency meeting of the association that took place at Ofosu, Edo State.
“As stakeholders in the project called Nigeria, we can’t fold our arms and pretend that all is well with our nation. It will not only amount to act of unpatriotism if we decide to look the other way while others are speaking out on way forward for Nigeria,” Ibori stated.
“Following our worries over Nigeria, the general assembly of witches decided to hold this meeting. In attendance were witches from all the 36 states of Nigeria including Katsina, the home state of Buhari. It was at the end of this meeting that the unanimous decision was taken that we should support Buhari to fight corruption. There was no dissenting voice – we also took other decisions on some national issues affecting the country.”
Calling on Buhari to be resolute, the spokesperson said the President should not be afraid to step on toes in his avowed determination to sanitise the country.
“These looters are even lucky that it was Buhari that was going after them to expose and punish them. On our own, we had decided to wage spiritual war against  them, and our own punishment would have been harsher. But but since Buhari has decided to take up the challenge, we have decided to support him. Buhari should not be afraid. I want to assure him that no human force can overcome him.
We have one or two piece of advice that we want to give him if he can send emissaries to us or invite us to Aso Rock. Contrary to the wrong impression by some people, white witches are not evil people. We liberate people from evil people. We are messengers of God, and for over 20 years now, we have been speaking regularly in the media on some national issues,” he said.
Speaking on the fate of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike regarding election rerun which the court has ordered, Iboi urged Wike to pray very well as he may not return to the Government House.
“The ball is in Wike’s court. If he wants to remain as governor of Rivers State, he should pray very well otherwise the wind of change currently sweeping across the country will blow him away. But if he does all the needful, he will retain his seat,” he said.
On the crisis rocking All Progressives Congress, APC over Saraki’s leadership of the Senate, Iboi said APC may break into splinter groups.
Urging the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Buhari to continue to work together for the benefit of Nigerians, the spokesperson said:
“The partnership between Buhari and Tinubu is divinely ordained, but let it be known to the two of them that some people even within APC are not happy with the union between the two men. They want the two of them to clash. Some saboteurs who I will call enemies of Nigeria are desperate to separate them, but they will fail in their ungodly mission.”
Speaking on why former President Goodluck Jonathan lost 2015 election, Iboi said one of the factors was that Jonathan disobeyed witches.

             CHELSEA'S NEW MANAGER REVEALED

The English Premier League champions Chelsea Football Club have confirmed Dutch man, Guus Hiddink as the team’s first-team manager until the end of the season.

Speaking at his first press conference, Guus said: “I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this season around.

Hiddink Replaces Mourinho At Chelsea
Hiddink is presently at Stamford Bridge for today’s match as Chelsea welcome Sunderland.
However, Steve Holland, will take control of team matters for the game alongside Eddie Newton, who will now take on the role of assistant first-team coach.

Hiddink is making a return to London success after his first spell with the club in 2009 saw him lift the FA Cup with the team.
Hiddink took temporary charge of Chelsea in February 2009, losing just one league game as Chelsea recovered from a poor first half of the season to finish third in the Premier League, guaranteeing Champions League football for the next campaign and signed off in style thanks to a 2-1 FA Cup win over Everton at Wembley.
 on Thursday, December 17.
His sack came just seven months after leading the London team to a Barclays Premier League title last season.

Drogba’s ability to unite players is likely to have appealed to Abramovich given the club’s disjointed start to the season.
Didier Drogba to replace Mourinho at Chelsea

“It’s his heart club, even if he felt betrayed by Jose Mourinho, who had not met all obligations to him when he returned to England during the 2014-2015 season.”
