BAYELSA STATE GOVERNOR SERIAKE DICKSON'S SISTER ABDUCTED IN YENAGOA

Nancy Keme Dickson, the younger sister to the Bayelsa state’s governor, Seriake Dickson, has been kidnapped.

An eyewitness said Nancy Dicksons, 26, was today, December 19, kidnapped at her shop located in Okaka Road, Yenagoa, the state capital, at about 2.50pm by the abductors who drove a Lexus SUV.
The kidnappers might have carried out surveillance on her movements before they struck.
Efforts by the state’s security outfit, Operation Door Akpo, to comb strategic points in the city of Yenagoa by adopting stop and search, did not yield the desired result.
Asinim Butswat, the police public relations officer, confirmed the abduction of Nancy.
“On the 19th December, 2015, at about 14:50, four unknown gunmen in an ash coloured Lexus jeep, trailed one Nancy Keme Dickinson, 26 years, to her shop at Okaka Road, Yenagoa, and abducted her and her sales girl to an unknown destination.
“The command immediately embarked on a stop and search/cordon operations in a bid to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. Efforts have been intensified to arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing.”
No doubt the kidnap of Nancy Keme Dickson will be bringing a new twist to the political game and the fragile peace in Bayelsa state after the governorship election on December 5-6 was because of the violence in Southern Ijaw local government area.

EX-MINISTER DIEZANI ALISON MADUEKE SECRETLY PLANNED TO FLEE TO DOMINICAN REPUBLIC BEFORE APPREHENSION

Diezani Alison-Madueke, was about to travel to Dominica, however, and , have ruined her plans.
Fresh investigations show the ex-minister has reportedly acquired a diplomatic passport of the small island country with a total population of just 72,000.
The report claims investigators in the UK and Nigeria discovered that Diezani has secretly obtained the citizenship of Dominica. The passport, number DP0000445, valid from May 21, 2015, to May 20, 2020, has been issued.
The prime minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, confirmed this fact in a letter dated May 29, 2015, addressed to one of the UK’s anti-corruption and civil society groups.
Alison-Madueke was also offered a post of the country’s trade and investment commissioner. However, no allowance has been offered for her: the former minister should have promoted trade and investments in Dominica on a free basis. In return, she would have received all the necessary assistance and protection from this country in accordance with the international law.
The development has sparked diplomatic concerns. An undisclosed source of SaharaReporters narrated:
“I think the NCA – National Crime Agency – is suspecting that she acquired the citizenship of the Commonwealth of Dominica with the intent to relocate to this country. This has opened a fresh bend into our investigation.
“It is not impossible that she had planned to escape to Dominica ahead of the inauguration of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari because her appointment ought to be effective from June 1, 2016, for an initial period of three years.
“She has been placed under stricter surveillance in the light of the latest development.
“While the diplomatic aspect is being handled by the appropriate quarters, I can tell you that the NCA is collaborating with many agencies to bring her to account for any allegation against her.
“The NCA is conducting extensive investigation into the oil deals during the tenure of Diezani, irrespective of her ongoing treatment for cancer.”
It would be noted that earlier this week . However, it was a false alarm and, despite the former minister has  yet, she is alive.

IRANIAN MILITARY PLANS TO ASSAULT NIGERIA IN REVENGE OF SHIITES KILLED IN ZARIA

A recent post by an online community has stirred panic, as the message suggests that the Iranian military might be planning an assault on Nigeria, in revenge for the Shiites who were killed in Zaria, Kaduna state.

An unverified post by Iran Military suggests that Nigeria might soon be a target
According the post by a Facebook community called the “Iran Military”, the Iranian forces are apparently preparing to “pay a visit” to Nigeria, to avenge the souls of Shiite faithfuls killed in .
The threatening post dated December 15 made a joke of the Nigerian administration, terming it a “puppet regime”. Below is the snapshot of the post that has started generating heated arguments, sending shivers down the spine of many.
The , and spilled on a few days more, has generated diverse reactions both locally and in the international community. There have been series of protests .
It will be recalled that Iranian officials and media condemned and expressed concern over the . The Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, called on Nigerian authorities to .
On Tuesday, December 15, President Muhammadu Buhari received a call from the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, over the .
Various Iranian media outfits report that President Rouhani urged Buhari to act on the issue and ““.
Earlier Tehran summoned Nigeria’s charge d’affaires to express its outrage at the Nigerian army’s deadly crackdown. The Nigerian government was required to “immediately sheds light on the incident, .
The Shiite Muslims have continued to protest, calling for the release of their leader Sheikh Zakzaky. The Shiites and the family of El-Zakzaky have said that and were uncertain of his current health status.
Certain photos have been allegedly released by the Nigeria army, they show that .
A reprisal by the Muslim group is feared, however,  leaders of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, have listed five conditions for possible truce.
The leaders presented a catalogue of demands to the federal government, one of their major demands is , which the Nigeria army has said is .
It is pertinent to noted that the leader of the small Shiite community in Nigeria has close political and religious ties with Iran dating back to the 1979 revolution. Hence, the reason Iran and all its people are putting their weight behind him.
Opinions are divided on the recent Zaria clash, while some believe that the Nigerian army acted in accordance to rules of engagement, others believe that they massacred unarmed civilians and should have exercised more restraint rather than using .
A lot of is still ongoing in different quarters regarding the killings, and as the Nigerians await official statements from both the government and Nigerian army regarding the rumours of war, they can only pray that their feet will not be forced to dance to the drums of war.

       CHELSEA VS SUNDERLAND MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

Fans chant for Mourinho as Ivanovic, Pedro and Oscar put Chelsea three up. Chelsea wins the match by scoring a 3-1 victory against Sunderland.

Chelsea v Sunderland, Premier League – Will the likes of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas start performing now that Jose Mourinho has gone?

Fabregas watch

The Press association detailed one of their reporters to track the Chelsea No4, the darling of Stamford Bridge. Here is his assessment:
Attitude
Not quite a man transformed, but Fabregas' sprightly demeanour indicated a weight lifted.
Fabregas was committed and focused from the off, putting himself about - and crucially, completely ignoring clear castigation from the home supporters.
The former Arsenal midfielder was accused of underperforming in a bid to oust Mourinho.

The rumour mill suggested the furore over former club doctor Eva Carnerio's exit led to Mourinho losing respect among Chelsea's top stars.
Mourinho branded Carneiro "naive" for rushing to treat Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea on August 8 and the Portuguese medic later left Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas has always rebuffed claims he had attempted to unseat the now former Blues boss, and kept calm in the face of abuse from the home faithful.
The Chelsea fans twice booed Fabregas' name when read out by the stadium announcer before kick-off, but all the while the man himself simply focused on the job in hand.
The home support launched into 'Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho' chants as Fabregas was replaced, but again there was no reaction from the low-key midfielder.
Teamwork
Fabregas kept his shape impressively in front of Chelsea's back-four, sitting in alongside defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic to allow the hosts' more offensive talents to take control.
Impact
While Fabregas neither laid on any assists nor found the net, the intelligent playmaker dictated Chelsea's rhythm in a first-half performance that assured the home side's victory.

Here was a restoration of the savvy flicks and astute step-overs that can so punctuate Chelsea's flowing play at its very best.
Fabregas produced one smart through-ball that ran just too long for Oscar, but kept Chelsea's metronome ticking tidily enough.
Verdict
Fabregas and his Chelsea team-mates attacked a no-win situation in fine and fully appropriate style - by simply winning this match.
The fans offered the first brickbats, openly suggesting the players had restored full effort now Mourinho was gone.
The only response available to Fabregas is to perform on the pitch.
Mourinho makes his point to Cesc Fabregas
The 28-year-old did the necessary at Stamford Bridge and now interim boss Guus Hiddink can pick up his part in trying to push Chelsea into a new era.
Fabregas was not exactly restored to the man Mourinho signed and who set the tone for Chelsea's Premier League title victory last term, but this was certainly a step-up in standard.

There are some strange days in the life of any football club, even more so at Chelsea in the Roman Abramovich years, but none in recent memory when there has been so much anger directed at the home team for improving their performance in the aftermath of a managerial sacking.
Chelsea fan holds up a banner for the players
Today the “palpable discord” – to borrow a phrase from the Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo – was between supporters and players, on an occasion when there was booing for Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas and nothing but love for the absent Jose Mourinho. He may be gone, but on this occasion every homemade banner, and just about every chant, was in honour of the club’s sacked manager.

A banner describing three players as 'rats'
In the private box belonging to Abramovich, the owner and his new interim coach Guus Hiddink took their places alongside Chelsea’s great pride of Africa, the indomitable Didier Drogba. If ever there was a public relations card to be played in the aftermath of the sacking of one of the club’s most popular figures then, short of bringing out Frank Lampard, Drogba was that man.

New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, Drogba and Abramovich celebrate Pedro's goal
On the pitch, Chelsea were three goals ahead within 48 minutes but that only seemed to enrage the home support more. “Where were you when you were s***?” they asked of Pedro Roriguez when he scored the second, his first league goal since August. Where, indeed? This was one occasion that was a no-win for the Chelsea team: lose and it was more of the same, win and it was more evidence of Jose’s Great Betrayal.
Pedro scores Chelsea's second
The temperature was high before the game even started with one homemade banner proclaiming Fabregas, Costa and Eden Hazard as “rats” and another sternly warning the whole squad “You let us down, you let Jose down”. Hazard was absent through injury but Costa and Fabregas both played and had their names booed when they were announced.
The second chant for Mourinho had only just begun when Branislav Ivanovic, one of Chelsea’s worst performers this season, headed in Willian’s corner. He appeared to run towards the area of the pitch below Abramovich’s private box and the owner himself jumped to his feet to celebrate.

Back in business: Branislav Ivanovic opened the scoring for Chelsea
It is remarkable that even a man who battled his way out of the break-up of the Soviet Union with a decent slice of that nation’s natural resources can get emotional about the bickering over the legacy of a simple football manager. But that was what it was like at Chelsea, with the team playing as if they were trying to prove a point and the home crowd simply getting angry at how much better they were doing.

A beaming Abramovich
When Pedro volleyed in a second on 13 minutes the message for the home support was clear: they did not appreciate the improvement coming only after the sacking of their favourite manager. Only Willian, whose name was cheered when it was announced, seemed to be exempt from the blame.
Willian earned a penalty for his team after this challenge from Sunderland's Costel Pantilimon
Premier LeagueChelsea v. SunderlandPossession22.7%48.3%29.0%67.5%32.5%
One move between Willian, Pedro and Fabregas to cross to the back post for Costa, was as good as anything they have managed this season. Oscar looked determined to prove he was liberated with a Rabona cross in the first half, a couple of back-heels and a demand to get on the ball at every opportunity.
The third goal was from the penalty spot three minutes after half-time. Costel Pantilimon needlessly tripped Willian as he ran away from goal and Oscar was as keen as ever to take the penalty which he scored easily.
Oscar celebrates scoring the third for Chelsea from the spot
Sunderland had been pretty dreadful, in spite of the five man defence which Sam Allardyce started with. Adam Johnson came on for Sebastan Coates after 23 minutes and Fabio Borini was on at half-time for Ola Toivinen. The former Chelsea academy boy scored on 53 minutes from close range when Younes Kaboul headed Johnson’s free-kick back across goal.
Fabio Borini (left) scores Sunderland's only goal
There was a moment when Chelsea wobbled and if Jermain Defoe had been more precise with a volley on 65 minutes then the game would have been in the balance. Temporary coach Steve Holland substituted Costa on 75 minutes and as he came off he was booed by a lot of the home support. There was applause too but Costa only seemed to hear the former and looked round him with the kind of expression he normally saves for opposition centre-halves
Chelsea's Diego Costa heads down the tunnel shortly after being substituted
Fabregas had got similar treatment earlier. As ever, it was split with much applause for both players too. Chelsea were never in trouble but watching from high, Hiddink will be glad that he has some credit with the supporters from his first caretaker spell in 2009. This could be a rough ride until the end of the season.

FEARS OF A RADICAL SHIITE GROUP INSTIGATING NEW ISLAMIST THREAT EMERGES IN NIGERIA

Nigeria, risks unleashing a new Islamist threat after violent clashes between the army and a radical Shiite group, experts say.

Though no official death toll was released, at least a dozen members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) were killed in confrontations with the army during a religious procession last week in the northern city of Zaria.

IMN leader Ibrahim Zakzaky was seriously wounded and arrested by the army while his number two was killed during the clashes. The military was forced to put out a denial after rumours spread that Zakzaky’s wife died in custody.
The violence mirrors the bloody beginning of the Boko Haram insurrection in 2009, when the former leader of the Sunni militant group was executed in police custody and the sect took up arms against the Nigerian government.
Nigeria’s highest Muslim authority, the Sultan of Sokoto, on Monday urged the authorities to show “restraint”.
“Don’t create a new Boko Haram,” warned Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakarr in a statement.
“The past, with cataclysmic consequences that Nigeria is yet to recover from, should not be allowed to repeat itself,” he added.
Battling Boko Haram is a priority for Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, who has vowed to end the insurgency that has claimed 17,000 lives.
Boko Haram has shifted its strategy from raiding villages to relying on deadly bomb attacks in its quest to overthrow the government and create a hardline Islamist state in the northeast of the west African nation of some 170 million people.

– ‘Risk of escalation –

Shiite members protest killing of members by soldiers in parts of Kaduna on Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Zakzaky, who founded IMN in the 1980s, has been monitored by Nigerian security forces for years on suspicion that he is trying to create an independent Shiite state.
As a defiant preacher in the late 1970s, he described the country as being run by thieves.
“The IMN attracts impoverished Muslim youths by preaching defiance of Nigeria’s secular authorities and offering a social infrastructure that is not provided by the state,” said Malte Liewerscheidt, Africa analyst at Verisk Maplecroft, a research and investment firm.
“Like other Shiite movements around the world, the IMN enjoys political and financial support from the Shia regime in Iran,” Liewerscheidt said.
The army says the hardline rhetoric boiled over into violence in Zaria, with the Shiite worshippers allegedly attacking the convoy of army chief Yusuf Buratai — a claim denied by IMN.
Soldiers attacked and destroyed a mosque, while Zakzaky was severely injured and his house was destroyed.
The total toll of the clashes, which continued between soldiers and hundreds of Shiite faithful for two days, is unknown, but it is likely to amount to dozens of deaths, according to testimony gathered by AFP.
“Whilst the final death toll is unclear, there is no doubt there has been a substantial loss of life at the hands of the military,” said M.K. Ibrahim, director of Amnesty International in Nigeria, who called for a “impartial investigation” into the Zaria events.
“Since Nigeria’s security forces are ill-equipped and trained to deal with riot control, the escalation of a local confrontation with the IMN was just a matter of time,” said Liewescheidt.
“The risk of escalation will be compounded if the military response spirals out of control and if due process is ignored in the handling of Zakzaky and his followers who are in custody.”
However, not everyone sees IMN as a nascent insurgency.
“Nigeria’s small Shiite minority is generally well integrated within Nigerian society,” said Roddy Barclay, analyst at strategy firm Africa Practise.
“It is important to note that Zakzaky’s Shiite followers would find little affinity with Boko Haram’s ultraconservative Sunni fighters,” he said. “However, the personal cult around Sheikh Zakzaky has been a source of tension.”
“They are small in numbers and somewhat isolated as a grouping, limiting prospects for an emergent insurgency parallel to that of Boko Haram,” said Barclay.

REASON WHY SHORT MEN HAVE FEWER LOVERS REVEALED

SHORT MEN really do miss out on a lot of things, according to a study. Researchers looking at how people’s height and weight affected the number of sexual partners they had had found short men had the least. However, they were surprised to note that tall men did not always have the best sex lives.
The study of 60,058 heterosexual men and women aged 30 to 44 found that their average number of sexual partners was eight.
Researchers said there was little difference in the number of partners across the height range with one exception—very short men. While men of other heights had a median of seven sexual partners, those between 5ft 2in and 5ft 4in had only five, the team from Chapman University, California, found.
Regarding weight, normal and overweight men reported the most sexual partners, while underweight men had the least. Underweight women also had notably fewer partners, said the journal Evolutionary Psychology.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked  FG  on the immediate removal of  fuel subsidy.

Former governor of Lagos state, now National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked for the immediate removal fuel subsidy.
Tinubu who
made the demand while speaking yesterday in Kaduna at the 10th memorial anniversary of late Dr. Bala Usman, a politician, and former lecturer with Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU, Zaria, Tinubu said that fuel subsidy came with “many demons”
Tinubu said, “In a perfect world, I wish we could sanitize the subsidy regime and thus continue with it.
“However, I have reached the conclusion that there are too many demons in the system for that hell to be turned into heaven.
“It is better that we remove it, not for the austere purpose of saving money but to use the money more wisely that we might better save the people. Let us begin a process of a thoughtful, but decisive subsidy phase-out.
“While this is occurring, we should simultaneously phase in social programs benefiting the poorest, most vulnerable among us.
“Programs such as transportation subsidies, school feeding, improved basic medical care and coverage for the poor, and potable water projects are some of the things that can be done with the same funds.
“This way we can undertake this massive expenditure confident that the fruits will go to the hungry, not the already too well fed.
“End the fuel subsidy. Subsidize the people instead – Subsidize the people instead!”.
Earlier in his welcome address, Malam Nasir El-Rufai extolled the late historian, saying, “He cared about ordinary people and spent his life fighting for the common man.
“He gave everything he had, his intellect, his resources to advance the life of the downtrodden in Nigeria, this is why we are very proud of him.”
Bala Usman was the Head of Department (HOD), history, at ABU in the early 70s, and was later appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG) under the administration of former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa in between 1979 and 1981.
Also present at the gathering were Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, Katsina state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, Osun state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi among others
